Hidden within a 450-meter-high mountain along the Gulf of Aqaba, Aquellum is one of NEOM’s most ambitious destinations: a futuristic community carved from rock, accessible only by sea and revealed through a concealed canal. While LAVA defined the architectural vision, NAME was entrusted with the interiors — crafting spaces that turn the radical idea of a subterranean city into a lived experience.

Inside, the design unfolds as a continuous journey from darkness to light, from the subterranean depths to the open sky. The 100-metre-high courtyard at the heart of the project becomes a vertical stage for daily life, threaded by a dynamic boulevard of lounges, plazas and terraces. Interiors alternate between intimacy and openness, between quiet moments of retreat and vibrant collective encounters.
Materiality and atmosphere are drawn from the site itself: geology, filtered shafts of light, and the presence of water.
Natural textures and layered surfaces recall the strata of stone, while digital projections and reflections amplify the sense of immersion.
Together, these elements create a dialogue between nature and technology, permanence and ephemerality.
Aquellum is more than a destination of luxury living, hospitality and leisure. It is also an ecosystem for creativity and innovation, where The Generator provides a platform for disruptors and thinkers to imagine new futures.
The interiors are conceived as adaptable frameworks, able to host encounters and exchanges beyond today’s expectations.
From the hidden marina to the rooftop gardens overlooking the Red Sea, the interiors guide movement and perception, offering an experience that is both grounded in nature and propelled by imagination.
